Most often asked questions...

When is the ideal time to start training?

As soon as your puppy comes home they are learning. Basic manners and imprinting obedience can start right away. The Puppy Preschool is ideal at this stage. I can help you teach your puppy right away, so unwanted behaviors won’t happen as your puppy grows. When your puppy is 4 months old they can start in one of the training programs. All puppies must be fully vaccinated and in good health before starting a program.

Do all dogs need to be trained?

All dogs should be trained in the basic commands. Obedience is communication with your dog. We are asking them to live in a human world so for their safety, well being and happiness we should teach them some of the basic rules. A well trained dog is a pleasure to take with you on family outings and is welcome in more places. This ultimately means a true companion with a lot of freedom.

Will my dog listen to me after the training?

All the programs include training for you and your family. One-on-one instruction, with you handling your dog is essential. I will help you with many examples, including verbal and written instructions.

Why train one-on-one?

This gives me the ability to customize your lessons. All dogs and owners are different, therefore need different training. What works for someone else’s dog may not work for yours. Individually targeted training is more efficient. Behavioral problems can be addressed and corrected quickly. Private Lessons provide the most flexibility as they can be scheduled Monday to Saturday, days or evening, when it is convenient for you. Lessons are scheduled one at a time and you decide the appropriate number of lessons for you and your dog.
